WEEKLY BREAKDOWN
Introduction to Creature Animation students will explore the fundamentals of creature movement, learning key principles of locomotion, balance, and anatomy to set the foundation for realistic animation.
Understanding Creature Anatomy for Animation students will study the skeletal and muscular structures of creatures, learning how anatomy influences movement to create more realistic and dynamic animations.
Basic Quadruped Walk Cycles , students will learn the fundamental principles of quadruped locomotion, focusing on creating realistic walk cycles by understanding footfalls, body mechanics, and timing.
Weight and Balance in Creature Movements , students will learn how to analyze and apply realistic weight distribution and balance, essential for creating lifelike creature animations.
Advanced Quadruped Run Cycles , students will analyze the mechanics of quadruped movement, focusing onthe key poses and timing needed to create dynamic and realistic run cycles for four-legged creatures.
Tail and Limb Dynamics – Blending Techniques , students will explore methods for creating fluid and natural motion in tails and limbs, focusing on blending dynamics to achieve realistic movement.
Creature Locomotion in Different Environments , students will explore how creatures move across various terrains, focusing on adapting locomotion techniques to suit different environmental challenges.
Facial Expressions & Secondary Motion , students will learn the fundamentals of facial anatomy and expression mechanics, focusing on how subtle movements convey emotion and enhance character animation.
Integration of Personality in Creature Animation , students will explore the fundamentals of character personality, learning how to infuse emotion and distinct traits into their creature animations to enhance storytelling.
Complex Actions & Interaction with Objects , students will learn the fundamentals of animating complex movements and interactions, focusing on key principles that enhance realism and believability in their animations.
Refining and Polishing Animation , students will learn the fundamentals of animation refinement, focusing on key principles to enhance movement quality and create more believable performances.
Final Creature Animation Project & Review , students will outline their project goals and concepts, setting a solid foundation for their creature animations while reviewing key principles of movement and storytelling.
